Small class sizes lead to more one-on-one attention from the teacher, students get to know each other better and teachers can tailor instruction more individually.
Kindergarten is a big adjustment for some children. An all day structured environment can sometimes be difficult, our half-day program can help since they aren't having to focus for longer periods.
Students in half-day Kindergarten often exceed the standards and benchmarks. This is a result of teachers having the opportunity to work one-on-one with your child.
The mission of Lancaster Preschool is to love, nurture, and educate its students. We spend less time spent on discipline and more time focusing on nurturing our students and helping them discover their many gifts and talents.
A full-day is often has "time fillers". Our curriculum offers daily experiences and lessons designed to teach facets of literacy, early reading skills, early math concepts and exploration in science and social studies, along with fine motor skills.
It’s important to us that our students feel happy, confident, and secure during drop off and throughout their school day. School transitions are important for children’s academic future and our half-day program provides a smoother transition to all-day school.
"Having our daughter remain at Lancaster Preschool for Kindergarten, during such a formative year in her education, turned out to be an even better decision then we had anticipated. The unique hybrid learning style takes the best of both public school and private school curriculums, merging them into a strong foundation for which to build upon. The small class size allows for more individualized attention, meeting each child at their specific point in their learning journey, fostering confidence and excitement about learning. Our daughter entered the school year, without knowing a single sight word, and was unable to read. After less than 3 months, she knows 50 sight words and is reading!! She comes home from school excited to continue practicing her reading, writing, and math skills. Her teachers, through various methods that really resonate with Kindergartners (brag tags, special visits to show off their skills to Mrs. Atkinson, etc.), instill pride in their accomplishments, steadily building confidence in their abilities. It has been a joy to see our daughter’s rapid growth, thanks to the support and encouragement of her experienced teachers." -Darnelle Bevins
